Israeli forces shot and killed an unarmed Palestinian man in the Ma’an area east of Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on Sunday evening. Emergency service sources told Al Jazeera that the man was attempting to inspect property damaged by previous bombardments. The incident occurred near an area under military control and is considered a serious breach of the ceasefire agreement ratified on October 10.
Witnesses reported sustained gunfire throughout the day, and Israeli drones and artillery continued to target the area, obstructing rescue efforts. Ambulance crews were unable to access the neighborhood due to shelling and road destruction.
The cumulative death toll from Israel’s assault on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has reached 67,806 killed and 170,066 wounded, with 124 bodies recovered in the past 24 hours. Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that more than 9,500 people remain missing, presumed buried under collapsed buildings.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation confirmed that at least 2,615 Palestinians have been killed while attempting to access humanitarian aid since May 2025, often under fire near distribution sites. The ceasefire agreement, based on a framework proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, includes provisions for a hostage-prisoner exchange, withdrawal of Israeli forces, and unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid, but Israeli attacks have continued in violation of the deal.
