The closure is described as the 'first step' in response to these alleged breaches, with Iran warning of further measures if aggression persists. The IRGC also issued a warning to vessels not to approach the Strait of Hormuz, stating their security would be at risk.
However, U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated that there is no evidence of Tehran closing the Strait of Hormuz and that talks with Iran were progressing well. Peace talks between the U.S. and Iran are scheduled to continue in Switzerland.
