All 20 Indian crew members of the MT Jalveer, who were evacuated after their vessel came under attack off an Oman port, have safely returned home, the Indian mission in Muscat announced. Ambassador of India to Oman, Prashant Pise, met with the crew in Muscat before their repatriation.
The incident marks the third time in four days that a merchant ship with Indian crew members has been attacked by US forces off the Oman coast. Previously, the US military disabled the Palau-flagged oil tanker MT Marivex on June 8, which carried 24 Indian seafarers who were safely rescued. On Wednesday, another Palau-flagged tanker, MT Settebello, was struck by the US, resulting in the deaths of three out of its 24 Indian sailors.
India has stated that the strikes on the Settebello, Marivex, and Jalveer originated from the US Navy. The Indian mission reiterated its commitment to providing prompt assistance and support to Indian nationals in distress, ensuring their welfare and safe return.
