Supporters of Hezbollah took to the streets of Beirut to protest an agreement signed between Israel and Lebanon. The state-run National News Agency reported that hundreds of supporters, many on motorbikes, moved through central areas of the capital, including near the parliament and on a road leading to the airport.
Protesters blocked at least one road using burning tires and chanted slogans. Hezbollah MP Amin Sherri had previously described direct negotiations with Israel as a "mistake," telling Al Jazeera that Israel was attempting to achieve through the agreement what it could not in two wars. Sherri also stated that the agreement to deploy the Lebanese army south of the Litani River would mean a complete Israeli withdrawal.
