The Tula region, which hosts several major industrial facilities, has been a frequent target for Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.
In a separate incident, two people died and two were hospitalized following an attack on the Tula region before midnight Sunday. Additionally, one person was killed and two injured in a Ukrainian drone attack targeting an industrial zone in the Nizhny Novgorod region in western Russia. A Ukrainian security official told Reuters that the attack in Nizhny Novgorod targeted the Arzamas Instrument-Making Plant, which produces components for Russian missiles, with at least four drones striking the facility.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed its air defense units destroyed a total of 66 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 12 over the Tula region and two over the Nizhny Novgorod region. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that seven drones were downed en route to the capital.
