A drone attack struck a camp belonging to an Iranian Kurdish opposition group northeast of Erbil, Iraq, on Tuesday night, according to security sources. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired two drones at the Surdash camp in the border areas of Sulaimani province, causing material damage but no reported casualties.
This incident follows a series of similar attacks. Last Thursday, five drones targeted Azadi camp in Erbil's Koya district, and on April 27, both Azadi and Surdash camps were hit by drones. The Surdash camp, located in Sulaimani’s Dukan district, has been repeatedly targeted.
The Kurdistan Region has experienced numerous aerial attacks since the conflict between the US and Iran. Over 30 attacks have been reported since a ceasefire was declared on April 7. The Kurdistan Regional Government has condemned these strikes, stating the region is not a party to the conflict. Iranian officials maintain that Iranian Kurdish opposition groups pose a threat to national security, which they cite as justification for the cross-border attacks.
