Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has urged BRICS countries to enhance cooperation on strategic mineral resources and jointly address global challenges. Speaking at a security meeting in New Delhi, Wang stated that the bloc should respond to issues ranging from Ebola in Africa to artificial intelligence risks, and bolster collaboration on energy and food security.
Wang emphasized the importance of multilateralism, urging BRICS nations to firmly oppose unilateralism and protectionism. He also called for resolute action against all forms of terrorism and opposition to the weaponization of outer space. The diplomat stated that BRICS members should lead in advocating for justice and delivering fair outcomes to elevate their standing in international affairs.
Looking ahead, Chinese Premier Li Qiang is scheduled to attend the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 5 to 8. He will also visit Egypt from July 9 to 10.
