Wizz Air announced it will equip its entire fleet with Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet service starting in 2025, making it the first European ultra-low-cost carrier to offer the technology. The airline did not disclose the financial terms of its agreement with Starlink.
Starlink, operated by Musk's SpaceX, has already secured partnerships with numerous airlines, including American carriers like American Airlines, Southwest, United, and Alaska, as well as long-haul carriers such as Singapore Airlines and Emirates. In contrast, rival budget airlines like Ryanair and EasyJet have cited significant cost challenges associated with implementing Starlink's in-flight Wi-Fi. Ryanair's CEO, Michael O'Leary, estimated the annual cost for his airline could reach $250 million, including additional fuel expenses.
