A seven-month-old Palestinian baby, Sam Fahd Abu Haikal, was buried in Hebron on Saturday, a day after he was shot dead and his parents were injured by Israeli military fire near the city. The infant was killed while traveling with his family by car. The child's father stated that the incident was not a mistake and that a bullet penetrated the car's windshield, striking him, his son, and his wife. The Israeli military said a single shot was fired after soldiers perceived a vehicle accelerating towards them. The military acknowledged that uninvolved civilians were injured and that the incident is under review. The grandmother stated the family had stopped their car after seeing Israeli soldiers in the Tel Rumeida area, south of Hebron, when shots were fired. Abu Haikal said the family was travelling with their 11-year-old son and his mother when the shooting took place. He rejected any suggestion that the soldiers could have mistaken the vehicle's direction. The incident occurred in the Tel Rumeida area of Hebron in the occupied West Bank. According to the baby's grandmother, the family was driving near Checkpoint 17 when they noticed Israeli military vehicles and soldiers ahead.
