Nestlé India has categorically rejected allegations of infestation in its Maggi noodles that have been circulating on social media. The company stated that the claims originated from an "unverified account" and that it has been unable to contact the individual who made the allegation.
In a stock exchange filing, the packaged foods maker noted it was made aware of the complaint through the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), based on a concern raised by an unverified account holder on the social media platform X. Nestlé India emphasized that as part of its standard procedure, it sought samples for assessment multiple times, but the account holder did not respond.
The company further stated that a reference sample of the batch in question was sent for testing to an independent FSSAI-notified and NABL-accredited laboratory. This lab found the reference sample to be free of any infestation. Nestlé India has submitted a detailed representation, supported by facts, quality records, and test reports, to the relevant authorities.
