Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss pending issues related to the Imphal-Jiribam and Imphal-Dimapur highways. During the meeting, Singh requested the early sanction of an Elevated Highway project, which received a positive response from Gadkari.
The Chief Minister informed Gadkari that the State Cabinet has approved land compensation for the Imphal-Jiribam Road in Noney district, and work has commenced. Regarding the Imphal-Dimapur highway, Singh stated that issues in Kangpokpi district have been resolved and a special package was approved by the State Cabinet. However, land issues remain for the Imphal-Ukhrul-Jessami highway, and the state government is engaging with stakeholders for a resolution.
Additionally, Chief Minister Singh attended a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Government of Manipur for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, highlighting its focus on sustainable service delivery and community ownership.
