Japan's Zenkoji Temple Refurbishes Shukubo Inn for International Guests

The inn, which can host around 20 guests nightly, offers a unique opportunity to experience the tranquility and mindfulness associated with temple living. Zenkoji Temple itself, founded in the 7th century, is one of Japan's most significant Buddhist sites, known for its inclusivity and for housing the country's oldest image of the Buddha. Guests at Rengein can partake in shojin ryori, a mindful, seasonal, and vegetarian Buddhist cuisine, and are invited to join the early morning O-asaji ceremony, a centuries-old ritual of chanting and blessings.
