Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that India has become the world's third-largest domestic aviation market, with over 164 airports now operational. She highlighted this achievement alongside the expansion of India's metro rail network to 26 cities, spanning over 1,095 kilometers. Gupta also noted the significant progress in the country's digital transformation, calling 'Digital India' a global example.
During a special program at the Delhi Secretariat, Gupta paid tribute to victims of a fire in Malviya Nagar and a building collapse in Saket. She honored courageous citizens, police, and administrative officials for their bravery during these incidents, presenting them with commendation certificates and checks of Rs 21,000 each. Riyazuddin Mansoori was specifically recognized for his actions during the Hauz Rani fire, with the cost of mattresses he used reimbursed and a Rs 21,000 check awarded.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, Chief Minister Gupta announced that the Delhi government would provide an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh to the family of each person who died in the two incidents. Additionally, Rs 2 lakh will be given to those injured, with directives issued for swift and transparent disbursement of relief and compensation.
