Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has strongly condemned the ongoing shelling in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, describing the situation as a "death trap" for civilians caught under relentless bombardment. The medical charity stated that its teams on the ground are witnessing conditions that necessitate immediate protection for civilians and rescue personnel, along with unhindered access for humanitarian aid.
MSF specifically condemned attacks by Israeli forces against paramedics, citing an incident on May 12, 2026, where a drone strike killed two Lebanese civil defence workers who were responding to a previous attack. MSF's country director in Lebanon, Jeremy Ristord, expressed outrage over the killings, emphasizing that attacks on healthcare are unacceptable.
The organization noted that rescue and medical teams are increasingly delaying or limiting interventions due to the risk of being targeted, leading to people being trapped under rubble for extended periods. MSF has treated 725 injured patients in Nabatiyeh since early March, with 232 arriving dead or dying in the hospital. According to the World Health Organization, 161 attacks against healthcare were reported between March 2 and May 12.
