A team of Chinese defense scientists has outlined a strategy for destroying U.S. carrier groups from a distance of 3,000 kilometers, a range that effectively covers the distance from Shanghai to Guam. This research, published in the journal 'Tactical Missile Technology' on May 25, addresses the challenge posed by the U.S. military's recent dispersal of its assets further from Asian coastlines.
The paper, titled “Research on the effectiveness of anti-ship missile swarm operation under distributed confrontation,” was led by associate professor Gao Tianyun from the College of International Studies at the National University of Defence Technology in Nanjing. For years, U.S. Navy ships operated within closer proximity to China, making them vulnerable to China's anti-access/area-denial weapons, including ballistic missiles, hypersonic gliders, and cruise missile swarms.
