A growing trend on Facebook Marketplace involves sellers using AI-generated images of attractive women, often in revealing attire, to draw attention to items for sale. Rogelio Llamas, a seller in Southern California, shared that he adopted this tactic for his 2013 Jeep Wrangler listing, inspired by a YouTuber. He noted that the images, which can sometimes exhibit AI hallmarks like strange figures or improbable looks, are intentionally designed to be eye-catching and generate curiosity. While this strategy significantly increased views on his Jeep listing, Llamas reported that it did not necessarily translate into more serious sales inquiries. Instead, he received many messages asking if the AI woman came with the car, if she was real, or even negative comments unrelated to the vehicle itself. The Jeep has been listed for 19 weeks. This trend extends beyond car listings, with similar AI-generated figures appearing on listings for motorcycles, dump trucks, hot tubs, and heavy machinery, often with a 'WTF-factor' intended to make listings memorable.
