Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced on Saturday that he will resign from his post within weeks, stating that his second and final mandate, which expires in mid-2027, is nearing its end. Speaking at a pro-government rally in Belgrade, Vučić indicated that his departure from the presidency could occur in three to four months, or possibly sooner, and assured that any decision would be communicated in advance.
Vučić also announced that early presidential and parliamentary elections would be held. He suggested he might run for the position of prime minister and mentioned he had begun collecting his books from the presidential office, planning to donate 1,200 books received during his tenure. He added that candidate lists for the upcoming elections would feature younger individuals and students.
