Samsung Electronics Co. maintained its position as the world's largest dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) supplier in the first quarter, according to industry data. Market research firm Counterpoint Research reported that Samsung Electronics accounted for 38 percent of global DRAM revenue in the January-March period. South Korean rival SK hynix Inc. secured the second position with a 29 percent market share, while U.S.-based Micron Technology Inc. followed in third place with 22 percent. The data indicates that the gap between Samsung and SK hynix widened to 9 percentage points in the first quarter, an increase from the 4 percentage point difference in the previous quarter. Although Samsung's market share saw a slight decline compared to the previous year, the company continues to dominate the global DRAM market, holding more than one-third of the total revenue.
