Blaze Jordan hit his first major league home run and Iván Herrera hit two home runs to power the St. Louis Cardinals to a 9-6 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday. Herrera's second home run of the game and a subsequent blast from Jordan Walker broke a seventh-inning tie. Jordan then added a three-run shot.
Herrera also hit a two-run homer in the second inning, and Jordan contributed a triple to start a two-run rally in the same frame. The Twins had previously tied the game with home runs from Byron Buxton, Royce Lewis, and Luke Keaschall.
Cardinals reliever Matt Svanson retired all five batters he faced. Closer Riley O’Brien allowed the first three batters he faced in the ninth to reach base but recovered to secure the win.
