Atlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his right elbow. The team is awaiting a diagnosis from Dr. Keith Meister, an orthopedic specialist, to determine the next steps in his treatment plan.
Strider's velocity dipped to 88 mph during his last start against the New York Mets, leading to his removal from the game. He allowed six hits and a season-worst seven earned runs in three innings, including a grand slam. This is not the first time Strider has dealt with elbow issues, having undergone Tommy John surgery in 2019 and having his UCL repaired with an internal brace in April 2024.
Braves manager Walt Weiss expressed that inflammation is expected when a player is experiencing pain. Meanwhile, outfielder Drake Baldwin, the reigning National League Rookie of the Year, homered in his first rehab game for Triple-A Gwinnett after being sidelined since May 19 with a strained right oblique. Baldwin is expected to rejoin the Braves soon.
