The National Grain Supply Company (SABIL), in cooperation with NEOM, has completed the discharge of its first wheat vessel at the Port of NEOM, carrying 66,000 tons of wheat. This milestone signifies SABIL's strategy to diversify its logistics gateways and enhance supply chain efficiency, thereby increasing operational flexibility and expanding access to target markets and regions.
This action is part of SABIL’s broader efforts to strengthen cooperation with relevant stakeholders and leverage Saudi Arabia’s strategic ports to support the development of resilient supply chains and ensure the sustainable flow of grain across the Kingdom, particularly amid ongoing regional developments. SABIL noted that utilizing the Port of NEOM will accelerate the delivery of shipments to its northern branches, including Tabuk, Al Jouf, Hail, and Al Qassim, enhancing distribution efficiency and improving service levels for beneficiaries.
The company affirmed that this initiative is an extension of its ongoing efforts to advance the grain supply system through effective partnerships and advanced logistics solutions, strengthening supply chain reliability and supporting Saudi Arabia’s food security objectives. The Port of NEOM, strategically located on the Red Sea, plays an important role in advancing Saudi Arabia's logistics infrastructure and enhancing regional trade connectivity. It is being developed as an integrated logistics hub, providing direct connections across three continents through a network of ports, roads, and maritime and land trade corridors. The port also supports local and regional logistics integration through cargo handling services, inland trucking, short-sea shipping, and multimodal transport solutions extending across the Kingdom, the GCC, and the wider Middle East.
