The gold was discovered concealed inside a speaker box in the front lavatory of an IndiGo aircraft that had arrived from Dubai.
The seizure was made during rummaging operations conducted on IndiGo flight 6E-1478. With the assistance of aircraft engineers, officers found two pouches wrapped in black plastic tape. Upon examination, the pouches contained 24 gold biscuits of 999.0 purity.
Officials stated that the method of concealment indicated a smuggling attempt in violation of the Customs Act, 1962. As no individual came forward to claim ownership, the gold was seized as unclaimed. Further investigation is underway to identify those responsible and determine potential links to wider smuggling networks.
