International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced on June 26, 2026, that Fiona Cumming will join its London Finance practice as a partner. Cumming arrives from A&O Shearman, where she held leadership roles as private capital sector co-lead and co-head of its global fund finance practice.
Cumming's expertise lies in advising financial institutions and credit funds on a comprehensive range of fund finance products, including subscription line facilities, single asset and portfolio NAV facilities, hybrid facilities, and GP and management company financings, as well as derivative financing solutions.
Weil leadership expressed enthusiasm for Cumming's arrival. Barry Wolf, Weil Executive Partner, stated that her joining significantly strengthens the firm's Finance practice and complements its established U.S. Fund Finance team. Tom Richards, head of Weil’s London Finance Practice, emphasized that Cumming's extensive experience will be crucial in expanding the firm's capabilities to meet the evolving and complex demands of the fund finance market.
Danek Freeman, who coordinates Weil’s fund finance practice in New York, added that Cumming's addition will enhance the firm's cross-border funds practice, particularly as clients seek more bespoke and structured financings. The firm highlighted her role in supporting asset manager and investor clients with their most complex transactions.
Weil's Finance practice is recognized for advising leading private equity sponsors and financial institutions on complex domestic and cross-border leveraged acquisition finance.
