The 158th Belmont Stakes, the final leg of horse racing's Triple Crown, will be held at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday. This marks the third consecutive year the race is run at Saratoga due to major renovations at Belmont Park, which began in 2024. The race distance has been shortened to 1 1/4 miles from the usual 1 1/2 miles at Belmont Park. Nine horses are set to compete for a $2 million purse. Renegade, trained by Todd Pletcher, is the 2-1 favorite. Other notable contenders include Emerging Market and Commandment (both 5-1), Golden Tempo (9-2), who won the Kentucky Derby, and Chief Wallabee (6-1). Notably, none of the horses that competed in the Preakness Stakes will race in the Belmont Stakes, meaning no horse will achieve a Triple Crown sweep this year. Golden Tempo's trainer, Cherie DeVaux, is aiming to become the first female trainer to win multiple legs of the Triple Crown in the same year if Golden Tempo wins. Five horses from the Kentucky Derby are participating in the Belmont Stakes. There is a possibility of rain on Saturday.
