Toyota secured its sixth victory at the prestigious Le Mans 24-hour race, engaging in a close battle throughout the event with BMW and Cadillac. The No. 7 Toyota, driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and Nyck de Vries, capitalized on a safety car period with six hours remaining. Kobayashi seized the lead after the restart and maintained it to the finish.
This win marks Toyota's first since a streak of five consecutive victories ended in 2022. Ferrari, which had won the last three editions of the endurance classic, could only manage fifth place with its best car.
The BMW team, comprising Sheldon van der Linde, Robin Frijns, and Rene Rast, finished second, narrowly missing out on the manufacturer's first win since 1999. The No. 8 Toyota entry, driven by Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryo Hirakawa, led for a significant portion of the race before dropping back to third.
Cadillac was a contender for the win until Sunday morning, with its No. 12 crew of Louis Deletraz, Will Stevens, and Norman Nato ultimately finishing fourth after other Cadillac entries encountered issues overnight.
