Scotland midfielder Ryan Christie has committed his future to Premier League club Bournemouth, signing a three-year contract extension that will keep him at the club through the 2028-29 season. The announcement was made by Bournemouth on Saturday, ahead of Christie's participation in the World Cup with Scotland.
Christie, 31, has been a significant contributor since his arrival from Celtic in August 2021, accumulating 177 appearances across all competitions. He has scored 10 goals and provided 17 assists during his tenure.
Last season, Christie played a crucial role in Bournemouth's record-breaking sixth-place finish in the Premier League, making 26 appearances and scoring against Crystal Palace and Manchester United. This achievement secured the club its first-ever qualification for European competition.
"Ryan has made a hugely important contribution to the football club since arriving here and we’re delighted he has signed a new contract," said Tiago Pinto, Bournemouth's head of soccer operations. "He is a key part of the leadership group in the dressing room and has consistently shown his value to the team through his performances, experience and commitment."
Christie expressed his satisfaction with the timing of the deal, stating, "With the World Cup coming up, it felt like the perfect time to sign before heading away for that, and now I can fully focus on the future."
