In a bizarre incident in Bihar's Buxar district, thieves have allegedly stolen an entire 40-meter mobile tower, along with a diesel generator and other equipment, from Dumraon town. The theft came to light when officials from GTL Infrastructure Limited visited the site for an inspection and found the massive structure missing.
Company official Baijnath Ojha lodged a complaint with Dumraon police, initiating an investigation into what is being described as a highly audacious theft. The tower was situated on land owned by Harinath Yadav, who stated that his lease agreement with the company expired in 2022 and he had not received rent payments since 2017. Yadav has denied any involvement in the disappearance.
Investigators suspect a well-organized gang was responsible, given the technical expertise, heavy machinery, and workforce likely required to dismantle and transport a structure of that size. Police believe the operation may have taken several days. This incident follows a similar theft in 2022 in Rohtas district, where a 60-foot, 500-tonne iron bridge was dismantled and stolen by individuals posing as government officials.
