Kyle Sandilands has reached a settlement with ARN Media, resolving a legal dispute that arose after his abrupt sacking from the network in February. The agreement includes a $12.09 million cash payout and a commitment from ARN Media to provide advertising services for Sandilands' new media venture over the next three years, valued at $1.5 million.
Sandilands, who had initially sought $85 million, will also share 19.9% of any revenue generated by his new show with ARN Media for three years. As part of the settlement, Sandilands is barred from appearing on any radio stations that compete with ARN Media's Kiis FM for nine months.
The dispute began when Sandilands and his co-host, Jackie Henderson, had their contracts terminated by ARN Media. Henderson's own legal action against the company, claiming at least $82.25 million for wrongful termination, remains ongoing.
ARN Media's CEO, Michael Stephenson, stated that the agreement provides certainty for the company and resolves the legal dispute, allowing ARN to focus on its strategic objectives.
