A Porter Airlines flight from Victoria to Toronto was cancelled on August 6 after a child refused to wear a seatbelt. The child was standing in their chair as the plane taxied, and repeatedly slid out from under their seat when attempts were made to secure them.
Due to the unsafe condition, the crew returned the aircraft to the terminal and disembarked the child and their accompanying parent. According to airline spokesperson Brad Cicero, all passengers had to disembark because the time required to process only the child and parent would have prevented the plane from taking off before the airport closed at 12:30 am.
