Boeing reported a significant drop in jet deliveries for July, handing over 53 aircraft compared to 64 in June and five more than the previous year. This figure also trailed behind competitor Airbus, which delivered 67 planes during the same month.
The U.S. planemaker secured 30 net new orders in July, after accounting for cancellations. These orders included 18 737 MAX jets and 19 787s, many of which were announced during the Farnborough Airshow.
Deliveries in July comprised 39 of Boeing's 737 MAX jets and 10 787s, along with one 777 freighter and three 767s. Year-to-date, Boeing has delivered a total of 367 jets, with 279 being 737 MAX variants and 50 being 787s.
Among the notable orders was a commitment for 100 737 MAX jets from SMBC Aviation, the world's second-largest leasing company. However, this particular order was booked in June from an unidentified customer. Boeing has secured over 130 orders for the largest MAX variant, the 737-10, through July.
