Apollo Hospitals is set to appoint Shobana Kamineni as the executive chairperson of its soon-to-be listed medical equipment business, Apollo Healthtech. This move is part of the healthcare group's broader restructuring efforts aimed at unlocking value from its diverse operations.
The proposed appointment, which requires shareholder approval, positions Kamineni to lead the growth of the medical devices and healthcare solutions segment. Apollo Hospitals anticipates completing the demerger and listing of Apollo Healthtech by late fiscal year 2027, with a target of achieving around Rs 25,000 crore in annual revenue for the unit by that time.
Apollo Healthtech's portfolio includes products such as pressure-relief mattresses, specialist seating solutions, and care chairs, serving institutional clients including the UK's National Health Service and various care home operators. The company plans to establish a strong governance framework for the unit, with at least 50% of its board comprising independent directors.
