Tripura has attracted investment proposals totaling over Rs 30,000 crore in the past year, with more than Rs 8,000 crore worth of projects already grounded, according to Chief Minister Manik Saha. Speaking at a NITI Aayog governing council meeting, Saha highlighted the state's progress, noting that its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has doubled in the last six years, making it India's third fully literate state.
Saha detailed the state's long-term vision, 'Lakshya 2047,' which aligns with the national goal of 'Viksit Bharat' to foster an inclusive, prosperous, and healthy future. He mentioned that major companies like Bharti Airtel are setting up strategic facilities, including a data center in Agartala, to serve Eastern India.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the state's focus on women's empowerment, with nearly 5 lakh rural women actively participating in over 55,000 self-help groups (SHGs). Initiatives like 'Samriddhi' are accelerating credit flow to these groups, and efforts are underway to integrate them into the formal MSME ecosystem.
Furthermore, Tripura has achieved complete digitalization and paperless administration from the cabinet down to gram panchayats. Significant growth has also been observed in medical education, with MBBS seats increasing from 225 to 550 and postgraduate seats from 85 to 196. Progress is also being made in tourism, with the development of circuits like the Mata Tripura Sundari Tourism Circuit and the Buddhist Circuit.
