A significant number of Indian students are protesting alleged marking errors in crucial Class 12 examinations, leading to a national outcry. More than 400,000 students have requested copies of their answer sheets, with many reporting discrepancies they attribute to the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) new digital on-screen marking (OSM) system. This system, which involves scanning physical papers for digital evaluation, was implemented shortly before the exams began. Students and parents have voiced concerns about incorrect grades, incomplete scans, missing pages, and even receiving answer sheets that do not belong to them. One student's viral complaint about receiving the wrong physics exam paper prompted further scrutiny. The education minister has acknowledged the issues and pledged to find a resolution.
