Maruti Suzuki India Chairman R C Bhargava lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's economic and industrial policies, stating that the past 12 years have been 'transformational for industry.' Bhargava noted significant growth in vehicle exports and car manufacturing, with Maruti Suzuki's annual exports projected to rise from approximately 100,000 units in 2013-14 to 450,000 units in 2025-26. He highlighted that India has emerged as the world's third-largest car manufacturing nation.
Bhargava attributed the increase in the share of Maruti Suzuki cars sold in rural areas, from 32% to 52%, to government policies targeting rural development. He also observed that intensified infrastructure programs under the Modi-led government have reduced logistics costs, making India an increasingly preferred destination for global supply chains relocating from China. Reforms implemented since 2014 have enhanced India's competitiveness and strengthened its position in global manufacturing and supply chains, according to Bhargava.
