China's Geely Automobile Group intends to commence electric vehicle production at its Malaysian partner Proton's facility in the first half of 2027. This strategic move aims to bolster Zeekr's international sales, particularly as domestic demand in China shows signs of slowing. The premium electric vehicle brand is also establishing a dedicated National Sales Company (NSC) in Malaysia, named Zeekr Intelligent Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, to manage its wholesale operations, branding, marketing, dealership network, and aftersales services.
Zeekr has expressed a strong commitment to the Malaysian market, with plans to expand its network to include 10 showrooms and three service centers by the end of 2025. The company has already seen significant traction, surpassing 2,000 cumulative deliveries in Malaysia since its launch in December 2024. The upcoming Zeekr 7X SUV is slated for release in the third quarter of 2025, further strengthening its presence in the region. This expansion into Malaysia is part of Zeekr's broader strategy to offset slower sales in its home market and capitalize on growing demand for EVs internationally.
