OpenAI Appoints Former Uber India Chief as First Managing Director for India

OpenAI has appointed Prabhjeet Singh, who previously served as the president of Uber India and South Asia, as its inaugural managing director for India. This strategic appointment underscores OpenAI's commitment to expanding its operations within India, a market it identifies as its second-largest globally, following the United States. The company aims to bolster its presence through increased consumer engagement, broader enterprise adoption of its technologies, and the formation of new partnerships.

In a separate significant investment, Daikin Industries intends to allocate ₹1,000 crore to establish its first international research and development hub outside of Japan. This new facility will be located in India and will concentrate on the innovation of large-scale air conditioning systems. A key area of focus for the R&D center will be the development of advanced cooling solutions specifically designed for data centers, with the overarching goal of improving product competitiveness in various emerging markets.
