During his stay, he met with the chief executives of major global tech firms, including OpenAI's Sam Altman and Nvidia's Jensen Huang, urging closer partnerships with South Korean companies in the AI sector.
At a high-level meeting involving Lee, global tech giants and South Korean conglomerates committed to a series of cooperation projects valued at a combined $950 billion. A significant component of this agreement is a long-term deal where SK Group will supply $750 billion worth of high-performance semiconductors to Nvidia and other companies.
Following his San Francisco visit, President Lee departed for Brazil, marking the start of a three-nation tour of South America. The tour aims to hold summits with regional leaders and will include a state visit to Brazil from Sunday, featuring a summit with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Brasilia and a business roundtable in Sao Paulo. The itinerary also includes visits to Chile and Argentina through August 1, with a focus on strengthening cooperation in critical minerals and supply chains.
President Lee is scheduled to make a stopover in Frankfurt, Germany, on August 2 to meet with South Korean residents there before returning to his home country the following day.
