San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) saw the debut of the first teaser for Prime Video's Blade Runner 2099 series, nearly five years after Ridley Scott announced the project. The ten-episode series, set fifty years after Blade Runner 2049, explores a future where humanity has lost its relevance. Showrunner Silka Luisa stated the series adheres to the original's "noir principles" and features a central mystery.
Michelle Yeoh stars as Olwen, a Replicant nearing the end of her life, and Hunter Schafer plays Cora, a fugitive Blade Runner. The official synopsis describes Los Angeles reborn without humanity, where Cora partners with Olwen to hunt a runaway whose truth could destabilize the city. The cast also includes Hugo Hamlet, Dmitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke, and Maurizio Lombardi in undisclosed roles. Blade Runner 2099 is slated for release on November 25, 2026.
Prime Video also unveiled a teaser for the third season of The Rings of Power, which will focus on Sauron forging the One Ring. The synopsis for season three states Middle-earth is at war five years after the fall of Eregion, with Sauron's armies conquering much of the world. New characters include Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn, Zubin Varla as Khamul, Eddie Marson as Thrain, Andrew Richardson as Anarion, and Adam Young as an Orc named Marnukh. Simon Pegg will voice the Balrog. The Rings of Power season three premieres November 11, 2026.
Additionally, HBO released a new trailer for the DC Universe series Lanterns, described as a sci-fi "space cop" show. The series follows new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and veteran Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) investigating a murder in the American heartland. The trailer reveals shapeshifting Manhunters and shows Sinestro (Ulrich Thomsen). The series will feature two storylines, one in 2016 and another in 2026. Amazon MGM Studios also held a panel for Spaceballs: The New One, a sequel to the 1987 cult classic. Co-written by and starring Josh Gad, the film is set forty years after the original Spaceballs and fifty years after Star Wars: A New Hope.
