Nscale, an AI hyperscaler valued at $25 billion, has doubled its office space in London as it significantly expands its UK operations. The company has grown its UK workforce from 70 employees in June of the previous year to nearly 450 today, with approximately half of these staff commuting to the London office. Over 40% of these employees are in high-skilled technical roles.
The expansion includes leasing an additional floor in its Mayfair headquarters, providing capacity for up to 300 staff. Globally, Nscale's headcount has now exceeded 800.
Imran Shafi, UK Managing Director at Nscale, highlighted the quality of startup talent in the UK and expressed excitement about supporting local AI companies. Nscale has also signed a letter of intent to support the British Open-ended Learning & Discovery Lab (Bold), a £30 million initiative funded by the UK government to advance AI research. Nscale committed $1 million in compute power to the project and is exploring further collaborations.
Shafi described Bold as an initiative focused on making significant bets on future AI discoveries and attracting top UK talent. He emphasized the exciting period for UK AI research and Nscale's delight in partnering with the initiative.
