France is set to invest €655 million ($758.29 million) in artificial intelligence and will develop a common chatbot to be used across all state services. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu ahead of the "Viva Tech" conference in Paris.
As part of this initiative, a public health chatbot will be developed for the state-owned health insurance agency, Ameli. Lecornu emphasized France's commitment to leading the AI revolution, stating, "We can either be subjected to this (Artificial intelligence) revolution, or we can lead it." He also stressed the importance of national sovereignty in AI development, asserting, "We cannot rely on tools developed by foreign powers. France must have its own tools."
