Chamath Palihapitiya, known for his venture capital firm Social Capital and the All-In podcast, announced that his AI coding startup, 8090 Labs, has successfully closed a $135 million Series A funding round. The round was led by Salesforce Ventures, with participation from notable investors including Jeffrey Katzenberg's WndrCo, David Sacks' Craft Ventures, David Friedberg's The Production Board, Jason Calacanis' Launch, Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora, and Quora CEO Adam D’Angelo.
Founded in January 2024, 8090 Labs focuses on developing an AI coding agent named Software Factory, designed to assist corporate programming teams in building production-quality software. The company emphasizes that its product offers enterprise-level controls, such as audit trails.
With this significant funding, Palihapitiya also revealed on X that he will be taking on the role of CEO at 8090 Labs, moving from a board member position to a full-time operating capacity.
