AI startup Odyssey has secured $310 million in a Series B funding round, achieving a valuation of $1.45 billion. The investment was led by Natural Capital and included participation from Amazon, AMD Ventures, GV, EQT, and In-Q-Tel. Odyssey, founded in 2023 by former autonomous vehicle executives Oliver Cameron and Jeff Hawke, focuses on developing general-purpose world models that simulate the physical world with accurate physics, moving beyond text-based large language models. As part of the deal, Odyssey has designated Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider and will optimize its models to run on Amazon's Trainium chips, positioning itself as a competitor to Nvidia's AI hardware. The company has now raised a total of $337 million.
