Washington teacher charged with incest after allegedly having sex with adopted teens

Amber Swain, a 35-year-old teacher from Newport, Washington, has been charged with first- and second-degree incest. The charges stem from allegations of sexual relationships with two teenage boys she adopted. The Pend Oreille County Sheriff's Office booked Swain into jail on Tuesday after an investigation initiated on May 18 by the state Department of Children, Youth, and Families. The two male teens were reportedly 17 and 18 years old when the alleged abuse began several months prior. Swain, who worked at Pend Oreille River School, was placed on administrative leave by the Newport School District. Investigators interviewed both teens and Swain, who initially denied sexual contact but later admitted to a relationship with one boy after he turned 18. Prosecutors requested $50,000 bail due to public safety concerns, while Swain's public defender argued for her release, citing her lack of prior criminal history.
