Trump Announces Reflecting Pool Restoration, Golf Course Construction

In a Truth Social post, Trump described the planned golf course as one that "will be one of the Greatest Golf Courses anywhere in the World which, importantly, will also be made available to the Public." He added that the course will have the ability to host major golf tournaments, including the U.S. Open, The Ryder Cup, and The PGA Championship.

Trump toured the golf course with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, aides, and golf course architect Tom Fazio and his son, Gavin Fazio. The president complained about the condition of the grass and sprinkler system, noting that debris from the demolition of the White House East Wing has been dumped on the grounds. The National Park Service confirmed last month that this debris tested positive for lead, chromium, and other toxic metals.

Trump also indicated he would meet with Janeese Lewis George, the Democratic primary winner for Washington's mayor, whom he referred to as a "Communist" in a social media post. Lewis George stated that she would work with anyone for the best interest of D.C. residents but would not compromise the locally elected government.
