Donald Trump enthusiastically embraced a comparison to historical figures like Hitler, Mao, and Stalin, stating that the key difference is his superior "global reach." The US president reposted a text from Dave King, a Scottish-born businessman and former chairman of the Rangers Football Club, who had previously caddied for golfer Gary Player.
According to CNN, Trump showed the two-page document to New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan for their upcoming book, 'Regime Change.' Trump reportedly told the reporters that historical leaders "maintained power through fear," questioning who would ever do such a thing. King stated he first shared his assessment with Player and later discussed it with Trump over golf.
The book also reportedly details other comments from Trump, including his reflection on legal battles, his consideration of Ron DeSantis for secretary of defense, and his views on Ukraine. Additionally, it recounts an instance where Trump was found with superglue attempting to affix decorations to a fireplace and his desire to make former Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell's life difficult.
