President Trump on Thursday called for the expulsion of Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) from Congress, asserting that the lawmaker would be in jail if not for a pardon from President Biden. Trump's remarks, made on Truth Social in response to a post by commentator Mark Levin, targeted Raskin's past efforts to impeach Trump and his participation in the Jan. 6 select committee.
Trump described Raskin as a "Loser in Life" who "worked endlessly during my First Term to impeach me, and failed miserably." He added that Raskin was part of the "Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs" and suggested that "If Biden didn’t give him a pardon, he’d be in jail right now!" Trump concluded by agreeing with Levin's call to "EXPEL THE BUM."
In an interview with MS NOW, Raskin responded to Trump's comments, suggesting the president was having "nightmare flashbacks about impeachment." Raskin advised Trump that the "easy way to not get impeached" is to "Stop committing impeachable offenses, stop committing high crimes and misdemeanors." He listed actions such as usurping Congress's power to declare war or misusing appropriated funds as examples of impeachable offenses, stating that the president "needs a basic constitutional primer."
