Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have detained 48 immigrants in South Carolina as part of a two-year investigation into identity theft and the use of fake identification documents. The state Attorney General, Alan Wilson, announced at a news conference that the company's plant manager and human resources director were arrested on allegations they knowingly hired immigrants who were in the U.S. illegally. Six individuals in total, including the two managers, face state charges.
