A rare Ferrari Monza SP2, valued at an estimated £3.7 million, was seized by Metropolitan Police in central London after being driven by an officer following a police operation. The limited-edition supercar, one of only 499 produced, was reportedly impounded during a crackdown on anti-social and uninsured driving around Hyde Park Corner and Wellington Arch.
The driver of the Ferrari was stopped by officers and found to be in possession of only a provisional driving license, having reportedly been in the car for less than 30 minutes. The vehicle was seized for driving without insurance and not in accordance with a license. This operation, which saw a total of 90 vehicles seized with a combined value of over £8 million, utilized new policing powers that allow officers to immediately confiscate vehicles involved in anti-social behavior.
London police have conducted similar operations in the past targeting high-value vehicles due to concerns over dangerous driving, insurance offenses, and other road traffic violations. This particular operation involved 120 officers and support from the Motor Insurers’ Bureau, which provides expertise in uninsured driving prevention.
