North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted two general aviation aircraft on Sunday that violated temporary flight restrictions in the vicinity of President Donald Trump's golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. F-16 fighter jets were deployed to escort the aircraft safely out of the restricted airspace.
NORAD stated that pilots are required to check with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for updates on temporary airspace restrictions. The agency declined to determine if the pilots had made a mistake, leaving that determination to the FAA. The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
