The shooting, which took place on Saturday, followed a physical altercation between members of two rival groups. According to Toledo Police Chief Michael Troendle, the violence escalated when one person began firing a gun, and a second individual subsequently discharged more shots. Of the 12 individuals injured, three were directly involved in the initial altercation, while the remaining nine were bystanders.
Victims ranged in age from teenagers to individuals in their 60s. Emergency services and bystanders provided immediate assistance, with half of the injured receiving aid such as tourniquets before reaching hospitals. By Tuesday, most of the victims had been released from medical care. The annual two-day festival, held in Toledo's historic district, was canceled for the remainder of the weekend following the incident.
